Assignment 1- E-wallpaper

For my first assignment, I had to create an e-wallpaper.

I used different pictures from different sources. Here are the original pictures I used.

The Making

Firstly, what I did was select the sky of the first picture using the magnetic lasso tool, and adjusted its hue/saturation, to get an orangish sky.
After that, I created a rectangle and colored the inside of the rectangle. After coloring it, I readjusted its blend properties to get a blueish transparent screen.

After that I used the second picture, and applied masking technique to it. I used the magnetic lasso tool to select around the people, and clicked on the layer mask, and used refine edge to smooth out the edges. After that, I dragged this picture onto my main picture. This is how it looks.
After this, I took the 3rd picture, and retouched them, (Add a new layer>Choose a shade of blue>Color over the gown>Layer properties>Color Overlay) I colored their graduation gown blue, and masked them and refined there edges to make it look smooth and soft.

I transformed it into the main picture and this is how I got it. I added in the 3rd picture of a group of students by using masking technique as well, and applying soft edges by setting the refine edge settings. I repeated the similar steps.

I added the MMU logo, but before adding I edited a bit of the logo by erasing of its outer cirlce (see the original logo above). I decided to retouch the picture of graduates on the right hand side by adding a new layer and coloring inside it, and than Color Overlay in Properties, and decided to color their graduation gown into blue as well. And than i finally added the Text, "FOM Open Day!"

And this is my final outcome, my e-wallpaper. These are just basic photo shop editing techniques.

Tutorial 5- Re-touching

What I had to do was to retouch an old, ragged photo and turn into something different. So this is how I went about it, first of all, I changed the picture into grey scale. I used the clone stamp to fix the rugged surface of the picture

After that I selected different areas of the picture, such as the hat,her face, scarf , and her shoulders once at a time, using the lasso tool.
As you can see in this picture, I have selected the lady's scarf. After selecting a certain portion of the lady, I used the hue and saturation settings to change the color around the picture.

I repeated this several times for her hat, face, scarf and her shoulders. But for her hair, I tried another technique. I added another layer, and brushed on the new layer around her hair. After brushing around her hair, I logged into my layer properties (right click on the new layer>properties) I reduced the opacity and over layed it.

After this, i just added another layer and painted the background green and the frames into red just for fun. And here is the final outcome.

Tutorial 4. Hawai

hi, this is tutorial 4,

My task was too clear off the man and the text and add in my own text. So how i did this is simple, I used the clone stamp tool (S), clicked Alt key (Alt) and cloned away the ball, the man and the text away.

.
Next I used the sharpen tool to sharpen out the edges of the waves, so that the waves are clearly defined. After brushing around the waves, I added an another layer, and added the text "Hawai the land of aloha"
